Share your parenting or caregiving story
Parenthood can be a wild ride. Within every family are hard-won lessons, tender moments and wisdom that may help someone else feel less alone.
Maternally Devoted welcomes contributions from parents, caregivers, guardians, grandparents, writers and professionals who have something meaningful to share.
We are looking for honest experiences, practical ideas and thoughtful perspectives that could help another family feel understood, supported or inspired.
You don’t need to be a professional writer. You can submit a written idea or share your experience through an interview with our editor.
What you can contribute
We welcome:
- Personal parenting and caregiving stories.
- Practical articles informed by lived experience.
- Researched parenting and family articles.
- Interviews with parents and caregivers.
- Professional perspectives and commentary.
- Answers to specific parenting questions.
Topics may include family relationships, pregnancy, babies, teenagers, guardianship, blended families, disability, grief, parental wellbeing, breaking difficult cycles, sustainable family life, nourishing meals, children and animals, and experiences that are not often represented.
This list is not exhaustive. If your idea relates to raising, supporting or caring for children, we would love to hear it.
What we value
We are drawn to contributions that are honest, compassionate and grounded in genuine experience.
A meaningful story doesn’t need to have all the answers. It may simply help someone feel seen or share a lesson you wish another person had given you.
Children and families deserve privacy, dignity and respect. Please consider how a child may feel if they read your story now or later in life. We may recommend changing names or non-essential details to protect the people involved.
Our preference is not to publish identifiable photographs of children, although we are happy to discuss safe and respectful image options.
Holistic and professional perspectives
Maternally Devoted welcomes conventional, holistic, complementary and alternative perspectives on health and wellbeing.
This may include contributions informed by medicine, allied health, naturopathy, herbal medicine, nutrition, mindfulness, cultural knowledge, spiritual practices and other forms of care.
We assess information according to its source, context and supporting research, not according to whether it comes from a conventional or holistic discipline.
Personal health experiences are welcome when they are shared honestly as individual experiences rather than guaranteed outcomes for every family.
Professional contributors may be asked to provide relevant qualifications, experience, sources and details of any commercial interests.
A few important boundaries
We cannot accept:
- Copied, plagiarised or fabricated content.
- Stories that unnecessarily identify, humiliate or exploit children.
- Guaranteed health outcomes or universal cure claims.
- Discriminatory or intentionally demeaning content.
- Undisclosed advertising or commercial interests.
- Generic promotional articles or paid-backlink requests.
If you have a connection to a relevant business, product, clinic or practitioner, please tell us. This does not automatically exclude your contribution, we simply believe readers deserve transparency.
How to submit your idea
Please send us a pitch before writing a complete article.
Tell us:
- Your name and email address.
- Your proposed topic or story.
- Why the topic is meaningful to you.
- What you hope readers will take away from it.
- Whether you prefer an interview or written contribution.
- Any relevant qualifications or commercial connections.
Writing samples are welcome but not required for personal stories or interviews.
Submit your idea through our Contact page and select Contributor pitch.
Please don’t send private medical records, sensitive documents or identifying information about children through the initial form.
What happens next?
We aim to respond to genuine pitches within seven business days. If we are interested in your idea, we may invite you to an interview, request further information or agree on a written article.
Please don’t begin substantial work until we have agreed on the topic and format.
Most contributions are currently unpaid, and this will be made clear before anything is commissioned or accepted. Contributors retain copyright of their original work. Complete publication terms will be provided in a short Contributor Agreement before publication.
Ready to share?
If your experience or knowledge could help another family feel informed, understood or less alone, we would love to hear from you.
There is room for many different parenting and caregiving stories at Maternally Devoted, including yours.
